Now it is finished just in time to submit to The Purse Project for the June/July beach bag theme.

And a close up:

I started this in mid-January and used 6 months worth of plastic newspaper bags. (The white stripes are regular shopping bags.) This thing is on the gigantic side but I'm a new crocheter and wasn't using a pattern so it's amazing it came out as well as it did.
Not sure what to do with it now. I thought of entering it in the "trash to treasure" contest at the fair but there is a size limit and this bag is probably too big!

I SOOO need to make one of those!!! :D Excellent job Sarah- I might be inspired to do something more useful than sitting at this darn machine during my free time!
I think it'd be good for groceries- recycled all my grocery bags to make a reusable one!

plastic bag crochet
OMG I have so many ideas as to what u could use this for! I mean it, you could use it as a recycling bag, to hold your recyclables in your kitchen until you can take them out to the bin, you can use it as I use a laundry basket to walk around the house and pick up everything that is not in it's place and deliver it to it's place as you walk thru the house picking up... does this make sense? Umm, as a laundry basket to pick up all of the dirty laundry from the rooms as you go thru the house to the laundry room, as a container while traveling from room to room to take out the trash from each room, as a book bag when you go to the library on a particularly "book heavy" trip, when you go to a flea market as a shopping bag, when you go to a grocery store and you know you'll be picking up a few more than a few items... I mean it I could go on and on but I won't, yet! And by all means try to enter it in the contest, you never know, if any one of those judges is like me, they'll choose it as a winner because it truly does show that one man's trash is another woman's treasure! KUDOS to your bag!June 24 2010, 11:43:11 UTC 1 year ago
